November 26, 2024 We ran three-30' foot tracks. The chicken was laid at intervals of one or two shuffle steps. Nimrod ran all three tracks with a fair amount of confidence. The tracks were laid close to road and a dog on the other side of the road barked at us the whole time. Nimrod started each track with confidence, but each time, after moving forward a couple dog lengths, he'd stop and look at the barking dogs. A low "find it," got him going again.

for November 24th We ran three straight tracks. Two 40' and one 50'. Rotisserie chicken as bait each one and half shuffle steps. The first track worked very poorly because I had the poor judgement to set part of the track on the loose sand of a ball field. Nimrod tracked OK but I had trouble containing myself when I heard him crunching sand with his chicken. The next two tracks were laid over grass one over the top of the other. Bate each one and half shuffle steps. Both times Nimrod tared fine and then wanted to go backward. I kept the leash taut and after a minute he resumed tracking in the direction of choice. His head is down and tail up, but he tends to curl his hind quarters each time he finds chicken. Interestingly, when we finished tracking, he'd had water and was out of the harness. We headed for the car. Abruptly, Nimrod moved about five feet to the right and put his nose down. He was on the track I'd laid on the 21st. He ran the entire tack (I could see th...

Post for November 21 Nimrod ran three tracks: one thirty-foot track and two forty-foot tracks. It was 58 degrees with a light wind out of the north. The tracks ran south to north on grass. I used shuffle steps to mark the track and rotisserie garlic herb chicken every six inches to entice. I tied Nimrod in view of my track laying. This time he knew exactly what was going on and whole heartedly approved. He got every piece of chicken on the first track. By the second and third tracks he was moving so fast he over ran some of the chicken. He likes this game

17 Nov 2022 Nimrod and I did three trails today, one 15 foot and two 20 feet. I extended the 15-foot trail and re-scuffed and re-treated the same trail. I tied Nimrod to a nearby fence, and he watched as I set the trails. I used rotisserie chicken to scent/treat/entice. I set a small piece of chicken every six inches as suggested. We used an elementary school ball field as our site. Nimrod and I often play there on the weekends, so the site was familiar. I used a chain-link fence as my site line and ran the trail parallel to the fence and about ten feet out. Before bringing Nimrod to the trail, I let him smell my hands and talked up the fun. I attached his leash to his harness. Our first go Nimrod got the start prize and then turned around and looked at me asking for more. I stood there silently keeping a slight tension on the leash. After a while he cast about and quite by chance happened on a second piece of chicken. Then his head went down, and he ...
