I haven't posted in a while. Nimrod and I have been tracking 2-3 times a week.  I don't use the same field two times in a row.  Nimrod is tracking with a FD every ten steps.  When we run a 200 yard, two or three turn track I see very few distraction or extinction behaviors. When we run a 300 yard, two or three turn track I see a lot of those distraction behaviors.  I'm not sure whether to keep the tracks at 200 yards and increasing the spacing of the FDs or keep the FDs at ten steps and gradually increase the length of the track.

I will try to upload video soon. I've put Nimrod on a long line and his tracking improved instantly but I'm having trouble managing my phone and the long line. I got a go pro mini with a chest and head mount. The battery keeps overheating, but I'll keep working on the video piece.

  1. I would work on increasing the distance between food drops. So next track you put in, first leg 50 yds with food every 15 steps. Turn. Second leg 50 yds food every 15 steps. End article. How are the article indications going?
In this heat, I would keep things short and fun. When he successfully and confidently tracks with fooddrops at 15 ft on two consecutive outings, increase the fooddrop distance to 20. So if he is great on Thurs and great on Sat at 15, then increase to 20 for Mon and Wed. If he is great Mon and Wed, then on Fri and Sun increase to 25. With success comes more distance between fooddrops. This progression is paramount to your success.
How much age are you putting on the tracks?

    1. Thanks for the comment, Mary Ann. I'm only putting the age it takes to lay the track, even at 15 minutes the ants swarm some of the food.
