Video below is from 12/23. 63 degrees. Objectives for the track: increase duration of focus, practice turns, deal with distraction Nim stayed in the game, made the four turns with ease (almost seemed accidental), and refocused after distractions. Things we can improve: Article indication, speed and precision of track laying. As is my custom, I tethered Nim near the start of the track, then laid the track. I don't think I'll do that again in a park. The track was 350 yrds long, and Nim was out of my sight for much of the track laying. I was very anxious about some kind person thinking he was abandoned. It's cool enough for me to leave him in the car. Safer that way.

I've uploaded video of us tracking today. The video is upside down and somehow; I filmed grass at the interesting bits. I was working on turns and duration. I laid a 350-yard, top hat which is the longest track we've done. I was pleased that Nim kept his head in the game for the entire track. He overran the first turn. I was watching Nim not looking for my next double line up and I let him blow past the turn. When I saw his LOS, I realized what had happened. I took him back to the last spot I thought he'd had scent. He found the turn and we were off. I deeply regret that I have footage of grass for point on the track. I don't see footage of Nim making the turns, but he made them. I'm still holding at ten shuffle steps, five steps, FD. I liked his focus at this pattern, and he's never run such a long track. He stayed with the game despite being barked at, low flying panes, and birds on the field. Once again, after taking off the...

The 13 and 16 Dec tracks were both ten shuffle steps five steps, FD. I felt the 13 Dec showed nim fringing quite a lot and not especially confident. I thought he looked more confident on the Dec 16 track. the Dec 16 Dec track was the longest track we've run in a while (250 yds). I was pleased that Nim stayed focused though out. both tracks were 15" old

I've tracked with Nim 3 times since posting. The first time, a snow day, Dec 5, I bobbled the phone and had no video. The snow was melting fast. The track was 15 minutes old and when I laid it was snow. when we ran it, there was liquid under the snow. There was a large area that was mud and snow when I laid the track, it was a puddle when we ran it. Nim had a lot of trouble with scent in the mud puddle. Tracking in the snow was vastly interesting. I could "see" what Nim was scenting. I watched him investigate cross tracks, that without snow, I would not have known they were there. Not a lot to narrate about November 7th tracking. I was pleased to see how well he stayed in the game. He's had trouble with longer tracks, but he hung in. Today's tack was fascinating. Again, two legs, 100 yards for each leg, 1, 90 L turn; ten shuffle steps, three steps, FD two steps, ten shuffle steps. You will see how he tracked. What fascinated me was when we finished the tra...

I've posted video from the November 25th tracking class as well as video from tracking with Nimrod on the 2nd. The tracking class video is late because we were out of town for the holiday and had no internet. Then there were network connection problems. The Dec 2nd track was article with food, ten shuffle steps FD, 3 steps, FD, ten shuffle steps. It was a 1, 90-degree L turn. Each leg was about 100 yards if I understood Google Earth correctly. The track had no age as I was losing light rapidly. google
